Sound, a tributary of Touch

Synthesis: “The combination of components or elements to form a connected whole.” In western society we base the majority of our communication on linguistics. We rarely use physical interaction as a way of communicating, except with those closest to us. Amongst strangers, and often even friends and family, we tend to reserve our personal bubble and limit our physical interaction; we have created barriers around ourselves even though there is a deep-rooted human desire for physical interaction and acknowledgement. Digital communication has further strengthened this barrier by limiting our interaction to communication via digital screens.

Sound, a tributary of Touch, showcases a playful alternate to our form of communication by creating a balance between sound and touch. It uses electronics to generate synthesis between the senses. Generating musical elements that replace the auditive spectrum we normally associate with linguistic communication. It is an intimate interactive performance between artist and audience. This work was build in at Rojc and exhibited in HuIu gallery in Pula, Croatia.
